IAN Atkins missed out on a place at next month's York Darts Promotions' Pro-am Grand Finals when he lost 2-0 to Stuart Limbert in the stage seven final.

Legs of 17 and 14 darts, including a 177 score, saw Thorpe Willoughby's Limbert claim the penultimate qualifying place at the October 8 event, which will be held at Huntington WMC and include the likes of former world champion Bob Anderson, ex-PDC world number one Peter Manley and BDO legend Tony O'Shea.

York's Atkins responded with a 180 at the York Pub in Easingwold, but his missed double in leg two proved vital.

In the semi-finals, Limbert (18) beat York's Lee Fisher 2-0, whilst Atkins was a 2-1 winner over Kevin Wilson, of Pickering.

The quarter-final results were: Andrew Hanks 0, Limbert 2; Graham Holmes 0, Fisher 2; Atkins 2, Alan Dawson 1; Liam Dawson 0, Wilson 2.

Impressive legs, meanwhile, were earlier thrown by Liam Dawson (21), Holmes (20) and Limbert (19).

Limbert went on to pair up with local Liz Thornton to win the Blind Pairs, beating Easingwold duo Graham Holmes and Rick Guyatt 2-1 in the final.

The beaten semi-finalists were Mark Agrain/Andrew Hanks and Tracy Marran/Ian Waterhouse.

Clarence WMC will stage the last YDP Pro-am Knockout qualifier on Thursday, October 2.

Registration closes at 7.45pm for an 8pm start with the draw for the Pro-am Grand Finals and Pro-challenge taking place after this knockout.

Tickets are on sale for the Grand Finals at £10 each and are available from Huntington WMC or by contacting Neil Hart at York Darts Promotions on 07921 128063.
