MARCIA GREY captain Maggie Bedingham checked out on 107 in the first pairs with colleague Chris Peebles but it was all in vain for the Acomb side as they hosted Leeman in York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division three.

Christina Waddington, Charlotte Witts, Janet Nelson and Margaret Schofield scored for a 4-2 advantage and Witts combined with mother Debbie to secure the win, while Schofield and Waddington added to their tally in a 6-3 victory.

Ox ‘A’ won by the same margin at Saddle. Nella Majesterek, Nikki Johnson, Linda Staveley and Abbie Scott did the damage, Sharon Nelson and Julie McKie narrowing the gap before Majesterek and Alison Walker secured match points.

Shoulder’s final pairing of Sue Tate and Anita Adams secured a 5-4 win against visitors Sun after the teams were all-square following the singles. Dorothy Barker and Angela Lancaster had edged Sun in front before Doreen Johnstone and Jodie Dowson set up the decider.

Burnholme stayed top of division one after a close fought game against Tramways. Carole Layne won the opening game for the visitors and her colleagues Jan Wilberham and captain Sue Lowry ensured they entered the pairs on level terms with their hosts who scored through Carole Salkeld, Sarah Jackson and Caroline Whittaker.

The pairing of Jackson and Whittaker edged the home side in front before Jean West and Claire Murphy secured match points.

Penny Franksen, Clair Cooper, Di Moreland, Babs Harrison and Pat Cairns sealed victory for Marcia ‘A’ at Ox ‘B’, whose Sandra Bruce broke their duck. Moreland and Harrison added to Marcia’s tally.

Tracey and Natalie Farmeary, Gina Whittaker and Bev Harton sent City into the pairs with a 4-2 advantage at Marcia ‘B’ who came on strong. Shelagh Kenny and Sue Smith (checking 65) and then captain Faye Hawksby and Barbara Russell set up a decider. It was City who prevailed as Natalie Farmeary and Harton snatched the victory.

In division two, Janine Cartwright won the opener for Green Tree but visitors Edinburgh pounced with Donna Lynes, Chris Lamb, Amanda Bevan, Julie Stables and Claire Jamieson securing match points.

Jubilee were tied 3-3 at home against Acomb entering the pairs. Tracey Yeomans and Brenda Dawe edged them in front before colleagues Heather Bulmer and Laura Heward sealed victory by the meanest of margins. Laura Gatenby and Sarah Rankeillor won the final game for Acomb.

Despite being a player short, Bootham Cons Club entered the pairs at Severus ‘A’ with a 4-2 advantage after Jane Barnes (gaming in 25 darts), but they went down in a decider.
