Yorkshire’s Brian Dawson kept his 100 per cent record in the fourth Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championship at York’s Huntington WMC, where a record-high 101 players competed in the York Darts Promotions event.

Dawson recorded three 17 dart legs, plus added a bull-25 and bull finish for 15, and 130 finish for 15 darts in his solid 5-1 final win over York’s John Quantock (16).

Quantock (2 x 180s in 15-20-20-17) showed his quality in beating Aarron Holdstock (Humberside) 4-1 in the first semi-final of the Red Dragon Darts-sponsored event. Dawson beat York’s Paul Cooper 4-2 in the other semi.

Trevor Day’s excellent run was ended by Dawson (15-180 for 16 and 19) 3-1 in the quarter-finals, while Cooper beat Jamie Ellam (Humberside) 3-1.

Quantock (14) beat Mark Hartley (York) 3-0 and Holdstock’s 3-2 win ended Chris Thompson’s hopes.

The ranking stage three event is on tomorrow at Huntington WMC. Registration closes at 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
