YORK Boxing Club is to stage its first show of the season this week.
The event will be held at the Tramways Club, in York’s Peel Street, on Thursday.
The show will comprise 15 contests and features boxers from three of York’s gyms – York ABC, Jorvik ABC and Henry’s Gym.
Said York BC head coach Billy Wilson: “It’s looking like a cracking show.
“All three gyms are involved, so there’s a good spread of talent.”
Wilson said one of the highlights should be the clash of York BC’s Sean Finney against Ellis Morley from Kirkby ABC in Liverpool.
Another YBC prospect on the card is Courtney Catterson, the former world junior kickboxing champion, who, two months ago, was granted a place on the Amateur Boxing Association’s elite Advanced Appenticeships in Sporting Excellence.
Her contest on Thursday will act as a tune-up for her debut in the ABA women’s championship first round at Mexborough on Monday.
