HUNTINGTON Ladies went down 5-4 at home to RI Tuesday/Thursday in division two of the York Badminton League.
The narrow win was due to the good form of Clare Forth and Sheila Mackarel, who took all three for 148-98 and included a vital 22-24, 21-13, 21-15 win over the top home pair of Beverley Tebbutt and Angie Hobman.
RI Monday/Wednesday ‘A’ ladies continued their domination of division one with a 9-0 demolition of Selby/Drax, who were a player short. Kate Jackson and Alex Darlington were best for the Institute with an 84-45 total in straight games.
Shepherds men’s team posted their sixth win in seven outings after a narrow 5-4 success at Selby/Drax ‘B’ in men’s two.
Paul Nichol and Roger Martin laid the foundations with three solid wins for 142-92, which included a 15 and 10 triumph over John Prickett and Naz Shefta.
RI Monday/Wednesday ‘B’ toppled visitors Clifton ‘C’ 6-3 led by Loz Smith and Dave Preece who collected three well-taken wins for a 128-93 return.
Mixed one leaders RI Monday/Wednesay ‘A’ scored a ruthless 9-0 win over visiting Shepherds.
Nicky Coggins and Mark Harris were the best with a 126-79 return taken in straight games.
