COMMONWEALTH Games gold medallist Donna Kellogg will be taking part in a badminton masterclass in York on Saturday.

The event at Energise in Cornlands Road, Acomb, has been organised by York Community Badminton Network and involves coaches from North Yorkshire Badminton Performance Centre.

The aim is to provide top quality coaching while raising the profile of the sport and the community badminton network in the area.

Organisers hope to attract 75 players to the sessions, with juniors playing from 11am to 12.30pm, seniors from 12.40pm to 2.10pm and advanced seniors from 2.20pm to 3.50pm. The cost of each session is £15 and bookings can be made by visiting the website www.yorkbadminton.co.uk

Meanwhile, primary school children in York are being offered the opportunity of free badminton coaching at Clifton Junior Badminton Club.

Sessions are held at Joseph Rowntree School on Tuesdays between 5.10pm and 6pm, and at Askham Bryan College on Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm.
