Clifton ‘A’ sealed second place in ladies division one of the York Badminton League after a 9-0 win at York RI ‘B’.

Heather Clarke and Karen Anderson reinforced their opening pair status for Clifton with straight wins.

Clifton ‘B’ scored a 6-3 away win over Selby/Drax ‘A’ in men’s one after a maximum from scratch pair Kevin Davison and Mike Hourston.

The top Clifton pairs return included a success over Andrew Dunning and David Hearn, who took the Selby wins.

RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘B’ moved into second place in men’s two after 9-0 wins over Clifton ‘C’ and Selby/Drax ‘B’.

Shepherds travelled to Selby Jubilee ‘A’ in men’s two and were good value for a 5-4 win. Paul Nichol and James Pearson were the visitors’ match-winners.

Terrys scored a 7-1 win over Selby Jubilee in a time affected men’s three match. Richard and Jacob Rodgers were in great form for the visitors, bagging three wins.

Men’s three champions York RI ‘B’ kept up their unbeaten record with a 6-3 away win over Knavesmire.

Sam Kee and Richard Morley were the top pair for the Institute once again with three wins.

Shepherds, who are fighting to maintain their mixed one status, went down 6-3 at home to York RI Monday/Wednesday ‘B’.

Neither side had a pair dominant enough to take all three, but Paul Nichol and Clare Forth took two Shepherd wins.

Riverside ‘A’ made sure of the mixed two title after ending their season with an 8-1 home win over RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘A’ and a 7-2 win at a strong Tadcaster 86 ‘A’ team.

Craig Dobson and Tricia Fowler took Riverside maximums in both matches for a two match total of 291-227. Andy Newby and Margaret Sinclair chipped in with a straight games maximum in the Institute match.

St John’s earned a mixed two promotion place, moving into second spot after a 7-2 win at Rowntrees.

Craig Middleton and Helen Wilson were outstanding for the city centre campus, returning 126-71 from straight game wins.

Huntington ‘A’ went down 6-3 at home to a gritty Selby/Drax ‘B’ team in mixed three.

John Deighton and Theresa Roberts-Hardy took all three Huntington wins in a good display, but John Prickett and Gaye Bradley sealed the win.

RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘B’ lifted the mixed five title with an 8-1 home win over Selby Jubilee ‘B’.

Paul Forth and Rachel Simister maintained their consistency with a maximum in straight games. They were well supported by Brian Morley and Mariene Woodward.
