University Student Ladies improved their title chances in division two of the York Badminton League with a 5-4 win at Huntington, and a 6-3 win at Tadcaster Sports Centre.
Becky Ward and Liz McFadzean were best for the campus over Huntington with three straight wins for 126-93.
The away win over Tadcaster saw Rebecca Moone and Claire Sherun put in the best display for the Heslington squad with three wins for 136-110, which included a tough 21-18, 10-21, 21-14 success over Lesley Bowling and Jaclyn Cowie, who took two Tadcaster wins.
Tadcaster bounced back with a 7-2 victory at a depleted Selby Jubilee Ladies team. Bowling and Cowie top-scored for the visitors with a notable 10 and 11 triumph over Lynne Redman and Lynn Dawson, who took both Jubilee wins.
Tadcaster Men’s team made it a good week for the club with a 6-3 home win over Selby/Drax ‘A’.
Peter Smith and M McCandless took their home allocation in straight sets, which included a 16 and 18 success over Scott Anderson and Dennis Bradley, who took two Selby wins.
The campus battle in men’s two saw University Student’s ‘B’ emphasise top spot with a 6-3 win over St John’s University at the Heslington campus.
Craig Middleton and Alex Harvey took all three visitors’ points in a superb display, but the home side closed the match out by the seventh rubber of the evening.
Copmanthorpe gained revenge for an early season defeat with a 7-2 home win over Terry’s in Men’s Three. Ian Thompson and Mark Wilson took the home honours.
