UNIVERSITY Students ‘A’ sprang a surprise in York Badminton League men’s one with a 6-3 win at Clifton ‘A’.
Uni pair Tom Gatenby and Ricky Kanabar made the difference with three wins, including victory over the top Clifton duo Daniel Woolfson and Erik Warenabes.
The battle of the RI clubs in men’s three saw Monday/Wednesday ‘B’ beat Tuesday/Thursday ‘C’ 7-2.
University Students ‘C’ kept up their good form in men’s three with a 7-2 win at Copmanthorpe. Alex Doyle and Rory Muse were in top form.
Geoff Hepworth and Matt Hobman shone for Fulfordgate in a 5-4 win over University Staff Club.
York RI ‘B’ scored a 5-4 home win over depleted Selby/Drax in ladies one. Lisa Ward and Michelle Hall took three Drax wins, but Laura Suddaby and Natha Tritasavit won the match for RI.
York RI ‘A’ went top of mixed one with an 8-1 win at Clifton ‘A’ and a 6-3 success at University Students ‘A’. Ollie Cohen and Nicky Milsted starred against Clifton, while Chris Hunt and Kate Jackson hit top form against the students.
York RI ‘B’ inflicted a maximum victory over Selby/Drax ‘A’ in mixed one, with Mike Corley and Anne Stephenson to the fore.
Shepherds beat Clifton ‘C’ 9-0, with James Pearson and Lisa McClaren topping the scoring.
Riverside ‘A’ made it six wins from six games in mixed two after a 7-2 win over Selby Jubilee ‘A’.
Mixed four leaders Tadcaster 86 ‘A’ scored a 6-3 win over Fulfordgate ‘A’, while Fulfordgate ‘B’ are still searching for their first win after an 8-1 home defeat by Knavesmire.
RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘B’ top in mixed five after an 8-1 win over second-placed Huntington ‘B’.
