Huntington Ladies made it three wins from three games after an 8-1 victory at Selby Jubilee in division two of the York Badminton League.
Jo Maule and Lorraine Gregory put in the best display for the visitors with a straight sets return of 126-95, Lynne Redman and Lynn Dawson picked up the Jubilee consolation.
York RI ‘A’ ladies showed no mercy as they despatched old rivals Clifton ‘B’ ladies 9-0 in division one. Kate Jackson and Nicola Coggins easily led the Institute returns with three wins for 126-53.
The York University Students men’s ‘A’ team lost 6-3 at home to Clifton ‘A’, then went down 5-4 at home to Riverside before scoring an 8-1 home win over a tough RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘A’ team.
Clifton ‘A’ sealed the away win when George Noble and Stephen Colley scored a 21-18, 19-21, 21-17 success over the top student pair of James Hor and Patrick Clarke. The Fowler brothers, Andy and Alex helped Riverside to a 5-4 win over the campus men’s ‘A’ team.
The brothers put together a great performance to swing the match after three wins for 145-108.
The students bounced back with an 8-1 home victory over RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘A’ at the campus. Tom Gatenby and Ricky Kanabar led the change with three straight Heslington wins for 126-84, Dave Preece and Loz Smith picked up the Institute consolation.
Clifton ‘C’ entertained St John’s in men’s two and ran out 6-3 winners. Adam Harvey and Craig Middleton took all three University wins for 120-104 in an excellent display, which was their best so far.
University Students ‘B’ are still undefeated after a 7-2 home win over Selby Jubilee ‘A’. Alex Chu and Ballie Watterson top-scored for the campus with 168-141.
Men’s three leaders York RI ‘B’ also emphasised their position with an 8-1 home win over Fulfordgate. Sam Kee and Richard Marley are becoming the mainstay of the young Institute team, and topped the averages with three straight wins for 126-80.
Clifton ‘A’ continue their domination of mixed one with an 8-1 win at York RI ‘B’. Daniel Woolfson and Karen Broster led their team to victory with an excellent return of 127-97 after three straight wins.
Mike Corley and Joyce Petch picked up the Institute consolation with a 16 and 20 win over Kevin Davison and Gill McIntosh.
