INDOORS there were also a flurry of fine University of York displays.
The men’s volleyball side, who play in Northern Conference 1A, put an end to a recent run of losses with a heavy 3-0 win over the University of Central Lancashire.
Scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-19 show how the White Rose ranks had little difficulty in dispatching the visitors from across the Pennines.
Captain Jonas Pollex was on particularly good form, dominating the net from start to finish.
There were wins too for the women’s badminton side – comfortably defeating the University of Huddersfield 6-2 – while the men’s lacrosse side carried on their winning start to the season by dismissing Manchester University 5-3 in a game that wasn’t as tight as the scoreline suggested.
Breaking the trend, the men’s squash side lost 4-1 to Sheffield University.
Elsewhere, defeat was sampled.
The men’s football side travelled to Hull University in a bid to recover from their humiliating 7-1 loss to Newcastle University the previous week, but they perished 4-0.
They entertain the same Hull side next Wednesday, hopeful that home advantage can end their losing streak.
