As an avid reader of the York Press, particularly the sports pages, I would like to thank your paper for the extensive coverage during this year’s UK Snooker Championship, at the Barbican Centre in York.

The return of snooker at the Barbican has captured the imagination of your paper and the coverage, stories, photos and in-depth analysis by your sports reporter Steve Carroll was a pleasure to read, and did this wonderful game proud.

I was lucky to watch the final live which produced some outstanding high-quality snooker throughout by both players who really gave us all a final to savour.
