Wednesday’s demolition of a good Wimbledon side left me amazed at the transformation of York City’s side in 12 months.

The supporters who stayed in to watch Manchester United should get a grip and come to the Crescent.

Live football is far better entertainment than watching televised games involving often below-par Premier League teams serving up dull games.

To those who have no real feel of the anticipation and uncertainty being at a game gives, I urge you to come along to your local professional club and grab a bit of the atmosphere.

There are only two home games left before the play-offs and the team certainly deserves the huge vote of confidence a packed Bootham Crescent would give to them.

Should City get to Wembley again next month, the team are in far better shape than they were last season to come away with the prize of higher grade football.

Don’t be shy, get along and enjoy the passion, pride and belief emerging from this club, which has endured and suffered badly in the recent past but may now emerge as a team and club to once more be proud of.

I am sure the political parties will give some murmurs of support.

May I say “get your act together and provide the club with a ground to be proud of and stop trying to score political points.”

The public of the city awaits and expects.
