CONGRATULATIONS to Richard Brodie for being selected for the England ‘C’ squad.
Just after arriving at York City I mentioned in a published letter that I thought Brodie was just a Northern League player.
I am glad to be proved wrong and agree with director Sophie Hicks that he has come on a lot, improving drastically in a shortish time.
Obviously Billy McEwan (former City manager) saw something there.
I have seen six Northern League teams this season but am afraid that this once strong league (second oldest league in Britain) is in decline and operates at only levels five to six in the pyramid.
Incidentally my latest match as Spennymoor saw ex-City player Paul D Robinson come on late as a sub for Sunderland Nissan.
