HOLGATE WMC maintained the only unbeaten record in the York Amateur Bowls League first division with a 60-shot 8-0 victory over Rowntree.

RI Amateurs came out on top in the local derby with RI Corinthians, winning 7-1.

Selby and Dunnington whitewashed Hull Road Park and Dringhouses 8-0 respectively, the latter with a 101-43 scoreline.

RI Amateurs also had a convincing 8-0 home win against Hull Road Park to maintain top spot, though Holgate WMC, with a game in hand, kept up the pressure with a 6-2 victory over Selby.

Haxby Road beat Dringhouses 6-2 at Clarence Gardens to go third.

Poppleton continued to dominate division two, beating Clifton 6-2.

Minster saw off Stamford Bridge 7-1 victory, West Park picked up their first win of the season, overturning Copmanthorpe 7-1, Retreat beat Harrogate by the same score.

In the Monday fixtures, Poppleton enjoyed a 7-1 victory over Retreat with an 87-69 scoreline, while Shipton stayed second with a 6-2 victory over Scarcroft.

West Park fell 7-1 to Harrogate, Clifton whitewashed Minster, and Poppleton Road WMC climbed the table with a 7-1 win at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Railway Institute have made a fine start to the York C&IU season, being unbeaten and heading both the Evening League and Afternoon League tables.

The draw for the C&IU's popular John Smith's Triples competition, sponsored by Heineken UK Ltd, has been made.

The preliminary round fixtures, to be played on Tuesday, June 19, are: Holgate 'A' v Burton Lane, Acomb 'B' v Railway Institute 'A', Holgate 'D' v Acomb 'A', Holgate 'C' v Poppleton Road 'A', Holgate 'B' v Poppleton Road 'B', South Bank 'B' v St Clements, South Bank 'A' v Poppleton Road 'C'. Railway Institute 'B' received a bye.

Meanwhile, the Yorkshire County two wood singles competition takes place at York RI Bowls Club on Sunday. The draw will take place at noon, with admissions accepted on the day for players whose club are affiliated to the county.
