ACOMB Hockey Club Men II finished their Yorkshire League division five north campaign with a 3-3 draw at local rivals City of York VIII.
Both sides had the chance to finish the season third with a win, but in the end City had to settle for fourth and Acomb fifth.
City opened the game with controlled passing but the hard-hitting Tangerines took the lead in the 15th minute with Matt Dickenson's reverse stick strike.
The advantage lasted only two minutes as Luke Harbord turned in a short corner from the hip before Acomb regained the lead from Tom Brown's penalty stroke.
Three minutes later and the scores were level again as Harbord converted from a goalmouth scramble, but Acomb went ahead once more as Dickenson drove in from a narrow angle.
City took control of the second period and levelled for the final time nine minutes after the restart through Zak Pierson.
Tangerines skipper Jonny Brown was denied from a one-on-one while Crossland saved a penalty stroke in an open final few minutes during which either team could have claimed all three points.
Acomb Ladies finished their division one season in third after a 4-2 win at Pocklington.
Pock took a one-goal lead into the break after a 28th-minute goal but a five-minute period after the restart saw Acomb turn this around in style.
Tangerines skipper Kerry Woods netted first following a fine run and then from a penalty stroke before Vicky Wrigley fired in from a narrow angle.
The hosts ended the stronger of the sides and scored to narrow the gap but Woods settled the game with her hat-trick strike 15 minutes from time.
