FORMER York City Knights and Widnes rugby league player Dan Potter lifted the York Conservative Clubs' Snooker League's Scruton Cup after beating Mick Borg in the final.
Potter, now a stalwart of the snooker league, won 3-0 in the best-of-five-frames scratch knockout competition showdown against his Acomb club team-mate.
The first frame was soon heading Potter's way as he made a 34 break then continued to restrict Borg to reds with only a handful of colours.
With the score at 45-24 with just green to black left, Borg made two good snookers to reduce the deficit to 49-30 but Potter potted green, brown and pink in separate visits to seal the frame.
In the second frame, Potter capitalised on a missed red by Borg to make a very good 42 break.
Borg could only reply with a nine then went in off the brown, Potter following up with a 16 break to win the frame 71-18.
Potter then made breaks of 16 ,17 and 14 to go 47-5 up in the third before Borg mustered a 14 in reply.
Good safety play saw Potter take the frame 70-25 and the trophy.
Potter also shared the highest break award with Clive Whyte, both having made runs of 54.
In the semi-finals, Potter had beaten Fulford's Tom Lewis 2-0 and Borg defeated Heworth's Steve Burdett 2-0 in the best-of-three-frames contests.
The final was refereed by Richard Lillie, while the awards were sponsored by Adrian Barraclough, of Quickslide Windows.
