CITY of York Athletic Club pair Angus McMillan and Maurice Calton-Seal helped Yorkshire strike under-20 men’s gold at the UK Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships.

McMillan finished fourth and Carlton-Seal 14th as they adapted well to the muddy conditions at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough.

Having enjoyed a superb first season of U20s racing, McMillan finished just seven seconds off a medal, clocking 30 minutes 25 seconds for the 8km course.

Calton-Seal also showed form to finish exactly one minute behind.

City of York’s Georgia Rothwell had a fine run to finish inside the top 20 of the U20 women’s event over 6km, clocking 28-01.

Club-mate Luca Parker came 69th in the U17s men’s event over the same distance in 23-04.

City of York’s leading runner in the U15 races was Finnian Hutchinson, who came 52nd in 19-26 over a 4.5km course.

Club-mate Andrew Lawrence (20-56), who was running for Humberside, came 171st in the same race, while Holly Moss (22-47) finished 196th in the girls' equivalent over 4km.

Meanwhile, City of York’s Marcus Medina won a gold and silver medal in the British Masters Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.

Medina won the veteran 40 men’s long jump with a leap of 5.95 metres and finished second in the triple jump with 12.46m.
