CITY of York Ladies II are second bottom of Yorkshire Hockey League premier division following a 4-3 loss at Slazengers.

The visitors twice lost the lead in a pulsating game against the second-top side in the division, but they remain only two points behind 10th-placed Bridlington, who also lost.

A positive start led to City earning an early short corner, which was deflected onto the left post by Abby Collins and buried by Jo Perryman from the top of the 'D'.

Slazengers levelled matters, but City went ahead again through Vicky Skilton after good pressure and attacking runs from player-of-the-match Charlotte Robertson.

Before half-time, however, the hosts pulled another goal back from a short corner.

City had a shaky start to the second period, but regrouped and were unlucky not to retake the lead, while strong work from Anna Good in midfield denied the hosts a breakthrough.

Slazengers then took the lead for the first time in the game, but City pressure ensured it was short-lived, as Perryman struck into the net following a rebound off the keeper's pads.

However, Slazengers continued to create chances and eventually worked the ball around City's defence for the winner.

City of York Ladies I are still seventh in North League division one following a 3-3 draw at home to Chester.

City of York Ladies III narrowly lost 4-3 at home to Kingston-upon-Hull II. Liz Armitage scored two and Jaye Mooney one, while Ruth Laybourn was named player of the match.

Division two bottom side City of York Ladies IV were beaten 3-0 at Harrogate III.

The hosts were worthy winners, playing the ball around well and opening the scoring after 20 minutes.

Increased pressure in the second half resulted in two more goals, before Rachel Hildreth's good attacking play gave City the hope of a consolation.

City of York Ladies V earned a 3-1 home win over Cleckheaton to move level on points with seventh-placed Leeds Adel IV in division four north.

The hosts came out fighting, moving the ball well, but were kept at bay by a fighting Cleckheaton defence. Nicola Winter tapped in City's opener from Rebecca Feetenby's cross, and keeper Cara MacKay protected their goal going into the break.

Cleckheaton got a goal back early in the second half, cancelled out by Winter's second, before Hayley Briggs secured the points.

City of York Ladies VI are still winless in division four north following a 6-1 loss at Batley.

The hosts took the lead in the first half as their excellent forwards bested City's strong defence, but the visitors equalised quickly through Lou Flatters from a short corner.

Batley regained the lead just before the break, and their experience and skill shone through in the second period.

City of York Ladies VII were beaten 7-0 at home to division five north leaders Harrogate II.

The visitors went two goals up inside 10 minutes, and added a third before the break, despite keeper Sarah Pritchard's good work in goal.

The hosts started the second period strong in possession but could not find the breakthrough, while Northallerton's flow of short corners proved to be a reliable source of goals.

Anna Duffus was City's player of the match.
