NEW Earswick Falcons came from behind to beat North Cave Yellow 78-62 in Yorkshire Over-55s League division two and pick up 12 of the 14 points on offer.

At home, Dave Imeson, Rod Walker, Brian Birch and Barry Johnson led 7-1 and 16-8 but had to hold on for a 17-16 win.

Colin Ellis, Paul Murray, Mick Head and Bill Waldie lost 22-11.

Needing to make up a nine-shot deficit on aggregate, New Earswick's away rinks got off to a flier.

Bob Elliot, Dave Kermode, Dick Osguthorpe and Ralph Tiplady led 9-0 after four ends, and, while North Cave fought back to 10-7 after nine, Earswick went on to win 26-15.

Graham Lockwood, Barry Harrison, Dave Elcock and Tony Abbot stormed 20-2 up after 15 ends en route to a 24-10 victory.

New Earswick Ospreys, however, crashed 104-59 to York Knights.

At Thanet Road, York's Colin Robinson, Tony Butterfield, Pete Bradley and Ray Clark dropped a four to D Hutchinson, Vic Woolley, Vic Thompson and Kevin Potter but responded with a seven on the next and didn't look back, winning 33-16.

Harley Wenham, Dave Holder, Barry Walker and Ray Calpin trailed Earswick's Pat Inwood, Gordon Johnson, Alan Price and Eric Cookson 11-7 after nine ends before opening a 20-12 lead.

Cookson came back with a single then a three but a six put York on course for a 27-17 victory.

At New Earswick, York's Charlie Arnett, Allen Clapham, Trevor Scott and Eric Hodgson went clear against Gordon Fratson, Dave Booth, Alwyn Anderson and Gary Stockton over the last nine ends to win 21-9.

Doug Mitchell, Bill Carter, David White and Geoff Walker led from the off and withstood a late surge from home players Jim Robinson, Dave Toms, John Taylor and Bob Barrett to win 23-17.
