ACOMB Ladies remained second in the Yorkshire League division one after mother and daughter Kerry and Kiera Woods combined to give them a 2-1 victory at home to Kingston-upon-Hull II.

The game was tied at 1-1 in the final quarter when Becci Flower found youngster Kiera Woods.

She drove past a static Hull defence and fed the ball to her mother Kerry, whose strike beat the keeper to win the game for the Tangerines.

The visitors had struck the only goal of the first half from a penalty corner in what was a scrappy encounter.

However, the Tangerines took control of proceedings with Georgi Wood and Jess Slater driving the home side forward while Wendy Watson, Eva Coulson and Jane Elsworth cleared away any further danger at the back without goalkeeper Sam Storr being troubled.

Woods senior, the Acomb captain, levelled matters midway through the second half, neatly rounding the prone keeper following a breakout led by Wood. And then came the winning strike.
