CITY of York Hockey Club men's sixth team comfortably dispatched bottom-side Bradford III 6-1 in Yorkshire League division four north to sit two points off the top.

Joe Sumpner opened the scoring, tapping in at the back post, quickly followed by captain George Trowsdale from a short corner. Sumpner made it three before the break.

The second half saw man-of-the-match Trowsdale and Sumpner complete their hat-tricks, before Bradford got a consolation.

In the same division, City of York VII halted their run of losses with a 2-2 draw at Bradford II, after twice taking the lead through Keith Wilson.

City of York VIII notched their maiden division five north win in style, running out 8-0 victors at Harrogate VI.

A hat-trick from Will McMullen, a brace apiece for Chris Allerton and Luke Harbord and a Charlie Laverack strike secured the points.

City of York IX came back from two goals behind at home to Driffield III to earn a 3-3 draw in the same tier.

Andy Dent opened the scoring, but Driffield replied with three goals to take the lead.

Goals from Keith Hunter and Alex Triffit rescued a point.

The man of the match was Sam Vaughan.

The York Badgers development side remain unbeaten following a well-deserved 2-1 victory at Ben Rhydding VI thanks to goals from player-of-the-match Amy Birch and Emil Waites.
