CITY of York Ladies I suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Ben Rhydding II in their first reversal of the North Hockey Women's League division one campaign.

After a strong start to the season, the side have now drawn one and lost one to leave them fifth in the table.

York started the match slowly and soon found themselves a goal down.

Once they had settled into their rhythm, York made more forays into the visitors’ ‘D’, but could not breach the defence.

In the second period, Ben Rhydding took full advantage of another slow York start, and doubled their lead after multiple short corners.

York fought hard, but the visiting defence again proved too strong.

City of York Ladies II sit seventh in the Yorkshire League premier division after winning 2-1 at Airedale I.

In need of points, the visitors pressed strongly from the outset and were rewarded midway through the first half when Holly Davies converted an Abby Collins cross.

However, Airedale soon replied with an equaliser.

York reset and, after dominating possession, were awarded a short corner from which Collins produced a textbook finish on the left post to give them a single-goal half-time lead.

Neither team managed to score in the second period, despite York’s continued attack.

Rebecca Feetenby scored twice to help City of York Ladies III to a 2-1 win over Pocklington I in a tight division one contest.

Pocklington took the lead on 20 minutes, but Feetenby’s two precision quick-fire goals turned the game on its head.

City of York Ladies IV sit bottom of the division two table after losing 5-0 at Sheffield University Bankers II.

The hosts’ strong pressing game meant that the visitors struggled to get the ball out of defence.

Some impressive Sheffield play in midfield saw them take the lead through a deflected effort, and a second quickly followed.

The score at half-time was 3-0, and although York improved in the second period, they could not prevent Sheffield scoring twice more.

City of York Ladies V came back from a goal down to Selby II to win 4-1 for the second week in a row in division four north.

A disorganised start led to Selby taking the lead from a break.

This shocked the City side into action and, a couple of positional changes later, they began to click and their passing, intercepting and tackling all improved.

Captain Elspeth Livett converted a Nicola Winter cross into the ‘D’ to equalise.

York continued to press, and a break down the wing allowed Lily Dowdy to make a run, manoeuvre around a defender and hit home from close range.

Dowdy scored again before the break to put the hosts in control.

Selby had much of the second-half possession, but good York defending and keeper Abi Tugwell’s skill ensured that it came to nothing.

Following a number of efforts on goal, Livett netted her second to round off the scoring.

City of York Ladies VI are bottom of the same tier after losing 7-0 at a strong Horsforth side.

York struggled to put away the chances they had, and have now lost four out of four this season.
