THE latest York Open proved hard going for the 26 anglers who took part.

Although the weather was fine, and the river was at a normal level, a lack of colour in the water caused the bream shoals to shut up shop.

With only a handful of single bream being caught, roach and perch became the main target for most of the anglers, with Andy Jaques topping the scales with 8lb 4oz from peg 19 ahead of Tim Harrison with 7lb from peg 12.
