ONLY 17 anglers took part but they played out a good match in the latest York open fishing match.
Amid a mix of sun and showers, with six to nine inches of coloured water, Dave Hardy prevailed from peg eight with 29lb 12oz, ahead of Colin Hardy with 27lb 6oz from peg 14.
All the overall and section winners took bream to the scales, but a few eyebrows were raised when Noel Speight came up with a 10lb barbel from a peg just below Killingbeck.
The York Amalgamation have another open at Poppleton next Sunday. To book, phone Tony Layfield before 6pm today on 01904 789390 or 07739 448762.
