FULFORDGATE were crowned champions on the York John Smith's Ladies' Darts League first division after Edinburgh Arms shocked previous leaders Castle Howard Ox 7-4 in the final night of fixtures.

Gate beat Leeman 'B' 9-2 after racing 5-0 up through Lynn Thompson, Michelle Britton, Dawn Exton and her daughters Alex and Charlie. Maggie Bedingham put the visitors on the scoresheet.

Ox still had their destiny in their own hands but Edinburgh changed the outcome of a tight title race.

Emma Frankland, Amanda Bevan, Julie Stables and Anthea Jamieson sent Arms into the pairs 4-2 up. Ox's Sandra Bruce narrowed the margin with a solo pairs victory but Frankland joined captain Chris Lamb to seal victory.

Ox were also leapfrogged by Tramways 'A', who finished as runners-up after beating Burnholme 9-2, having also had match points in the bag within the singles.

Gina Whittaker, Jayne Janes, Bev Harton, Tracey Farmeary and daughter Lauren all won for Tramways, with Lynne Wilstrop replying. Two of the three remaining legs went Ways' way.

Only two points separated the top three in the final standings.

Marcia captain Faye Hawksby led from the front against Severus 'A' with a 21-dart leg which was backed up by wins from Barbara Russell and Linda Penrose,

The visitors levelled through Sue Clark, Carol Robson and Steph Barker (3x100) and Barker/Clark combined in the pairs to give the club side the edge.

However, Hawksby/Shelagh Kenny set up a decider and Penrose/Chris Hayward snatched victory back.

The leading two in division two went head to head in a title decider - Golden Slipper beating Severus ‘B’ in a decider leg to confirm top spot.

Slipper's Jody Hancock closed a 26-dart leg with a two-dart 92 finish, and Ann Parkyn and Anita Adams made sure they entered the pairs on level terms, with Wendy Storr, Angie Kaya and Sharon Mountain having won for the hosts.

Elaine Metcalfe/Maxine Collinge then edged Slipper in front, with Mountain/Dot Sellars setting up a deciding leg.

Hancock/Adams won it to cap the title success.

Leeman ‘A’ had Dawn Clarke, Jackie Gray, Debbie Witts, Denise Pittock and Margaret Yeomans securing match points against visitors Clifton, for whom Alice Turgoose and Angela Fletcher/Cris Turgoose replied.

Georgina Clayton, Wendy Sullivan, Flossie Crampton and Alison Walker gave Tramways ‘B’ the upper hand at Saddle, whose Liz Jackson, Vick McClaren replied. McClaren/Kath Powell narrowed the gap further but Ways cleared up the remaining games for a 6-3 win.

Clockhouse, despite being a player light, won 5-4 at Puss N Boots. Sammy Benton, Kate Rankeillor, Laura Gatenby and captain Sarah Rankeillor ticked for Clock in the singles.

Kirsty Limbert/Lisa Russell and Alison Buckley/Sandra Flintoft made it 4-4 but Benton/Rose Gray won the decider.
