SIMON DYSON is set for a fortnight off before getting chance to build on his improved form in Germany.

The Malton & Norton Golf Club ace, struggling for consistency all season on the back of longstanding wrist problems, made the cut for the second time in three European Tour outings as he finished joint 71st in the Porsche European Open in Hamburg.

But the Tour takes a break for the Bridgestone Invitational event in Ohio, the USA, the latest World Golf Championship event, this week, and the US PGA the following week.

At the Green Eagle Golf Course in Hamburg, Dyson carded opening rounds of 71 and 72 to go into the weekend on one under par, the cut coming at level-par.

However, the York-born 39-year-old tumbled down the standings on Saturday after a six-over-par 78 which included six bogeys and a double-bogey at the par-four third hole which he had birdied on day one.

He regained consistency with a closing par round which included two birdies but another double-bogey, this time at the par-five 11th. He ended on five over par for the competition.

The event was won by England's Jordan Smith, who beat Frenchman Alexander Levy on a play-off after the pair had tied on 13 under par.
