PROMOTION chasers Wigginton moved to the top of the Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League division two for the first time this season after Sarah Blacker and Lorainne Waudby netted 29 games in an 81-27 win over Boston Spa.

David Lloyd are level on points with Wigginton - Nelsa Aslan and Lara Fawcett finished unbeaten in their 63-45 win at Rufforth. Starbeck are also in contention after a comprehensive victory over Castlegarth.

In division one, York bounced back from defeat last week by battering their second team. Wendy Stirke and Louise Marshman included a 12-0 in the victory.

Dunnington stay in second place after a big victory over Fulford; mother and daughter Karen and Charlotte Mitchell led the way winning 32 games. Angela Crossley and Hettie Alton dropped only a couple of games as Castlegarth demolished bottom placed Poppleton.

Mother and daughter pairing Ruth and Rebecca Hill top-scored in Pocklington’s victory over Bishopthorpe.

In division three, Maggie Zhang and Laura Atkinson claimed 23 games in Copmanthorpe’s victory over David Lloyd.

Sandra Pauw and Zoey Walker starred for Rowntree Park as they edged a 55-53 victory against Bubwith. Cliffe look to be struggling at the bottom after losing at Knaresborough.

Division four leaders Boston Spa were pushed all the way in their match at Sutton, Alison Ward and Anne Milne bagging a vital 22 games to secure a narrow 56-52 victory.

Tollerton hold second place, despite going down 65-43 at Appleton. Helen Gray and Monika Haritakis racked up 25 games for Heworth as they beat basement team Poppleton.

Wigginton and Fulford are first and second respectively in division five. Leaders Wigginton defeated Wilberfoss, whilst Fulford employed three members of the Paxman family to scrape a 56-52 win at Cawood. Suzanne Straw and Joy Craig netted 23 games in David Lloyd’s 60-48 defeat of Dunnington.

Copmanthorpe 2 remain unbeaten at the top of division 6 after scores of 20 plus from all three couples ensured a straightforward victory over David Lloyd.

Jo Ryan and Val Merrett were unbeaten for Bubwith who overcame bottom side Sheriff Hutton. Poppleton look to be strong contenders for promotion after fighting out a draw against third placed Knaresborough.

York 3 lead the charge in division 7 with Sarah Hughes and Michelle Wall undefeated in their victory against Appleton.

Copmanthorpe are in third place after benefitting from a 24 game haul from Cath Wilson and Alyson Ellershaw in a 65-43 win against Rufforth. Wilberfoss got the better of Stamford Bridge in a mid-table clash.
