YORK City Rowing Club have gone out of the Thames Challenge Cup this morning at Henley Royal Regatta.

The eight man crew lost by five lengths to Leander Club after beating Thames Rowing Club 'C' in the first round on Wednesday morning.

The crew consisted of Phil Press, Paul Richardson, Charlie Heise, Patrick Evans, Ben Bollans, Iain Edmondson, Andrew Wilkinson, Dan Lewis and Louise Hawkyard (Cox).

University of York waved farewell to the Regatta on Wednesday night when losing to Newcastle University in the Temple Challenge Cup.

The eight man crew, which had been invited to take part in the event for the first time in six years, lost by one and three quarter lengths.

The crew consisted of Calder Trewin Marshall, Stuart Hosie, Phil Nesom, Monty Pilkington, Jack Newby, Jacob Norman, Adam Williams, and Harris Archer with Emily Jardine as cox.
