POCKLINGTON pulled off the shock of the season in the Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League as champions York 1 were beaten for the first time in three years.

Experienced Ruth Hill and youngster Cordie Cavill starred in the 56-52 defeat of the Clifton Park team.

Second placed Dunnington are now the only unbeaten team in division one after hammering a depleted York second team 79-29.

At the opposite end of the table, Julia Sykes and Jane Parkin helped Bishopthorpe to a 60-48 win at Poppleton whilst Castlegarth edged closer to mid-table with victory at Fulford.

David Lloyd remain top of division two after a 73-35 win over Castlegarth. Wigginton beat Dunnington.

Starbeck crushed struggling Wistow and third placed Boston Spa overcame Rufforth.

Andrea Bland and Louise Wilkinson were undefeated for division three leaders Pocklington in victory over Cliffe. Rowntree Park picked up a surprise win against second place Copmanthorpe whilst Pam Campbell and Jane Wallace were unbeaten as Fulford 2 gained valuable points at Knaresborough.

Leaders Boston Spa maintained their 100% record in division four with victory against Appleton. Ed Hope and Sandra Jennings netted 22 games for Tollerton who dispatched New Earswick 64-44.

Andrene Watson and Jackie Mason claimed 26 games in a 63-45 win for Bishopthorpe 2 against struggling Poppleton 2.

Three teams are pulling clear in division five. Caz MacKender and Helen Brown scored 29 games for leaders Wigginton in a 61-47 victory over Cawood. Fulford 3 were indebted to Liz Paxman and Pam Mason as they edged past Dunnington 55-53.

Jo Allerton and Helen Hatfield took 22 games as division six leaders Poppleton narrowly beat David Lloyd.

Jenny Rossington and Ann Murray racked up 28 games for Dunnington 4 in their win over Sheriff Hutton. Appleton and Copmanthorpe 3 drew in division seven.
