DENISE Crane and Eleanor Bradshaw teamed up for the first time and produced a perfect performance as Wigginton beat Castlegarth 2.

The pair won all 36 games in their team’s 87-21 victory - a result which leaves Wigginton second in the Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League division two, level on points with leaders David Lloyd.

Only nine other fixtures survived the wet weather across the seven divisions.

Christine Place and Sue Yoward finished unbeaten for Rufforth as they overcame Wistow 65-43 in division two.

Sheila Stewart and Margaret Lindley led the way for Boston Spa as they recorded a 62-46 win at Dunnington to leave their opponents struggling at the wrong end of the table.

In division one, York 2 took the points at Fulford to climb towards mid-table safety.

League debutant Jackie Eccles and experienced partner Margaret Whitehead top scored for the Clifton Park team.

Charlotte Todd and Yvonne Mannall, meanwhile, were unbeaten for Castlegarth as they beat Bishopthorpe 62-46.

In division three, Cliffe secured the narrowest of victories, 55-53. away at Rowntree Park.

Tollerton won 59-49 at home to Heworth in division four while, in division five, Wilberfoss secured a 65-43 victory at Dunnington 3, led by R Latham and C Oldfield who won 30 games.

Bubwith 2 won 72-36 at home to Dunnington 4, who only had two couples in division six

In division seven, Appleton Roebuck lost 33-75 to York 3.
