MALTON & Norton Golf Club's junior team lifted the York Union Junior Team Championship trophy at Scarthingwell GC.

The Welham Park youngsters retained the trophy they won in 2016 by an impressive eight-shot margin.

The competition was played as individual stableford with the best three scores from each club counting to the team total.

Malton scored 106, followed by runners-up The Oaks GC with 98.

All four Malton youngsters had excellent scores on what was a testing layout with some rain showers thrown in.

Leading the way was 15-year-old Josh Stead, a three-handicapper, with the overall best score for the day of 40 points, ably backed by Christina Rumbelow, Poppy Rudd and Lewis Stead.

The M&N team now move on to the county finals to be held at Sandburn Hall next month.
