AT the halfway stage of the IT Sports Mixed Tennis League just eight teams are still unbeaten.

Poppleton lead division one after beating Heworth - with Robbie Greenall and Belinda Turnbull starting with a 12-0 - followed by another win against Dunnington - where siblings Nick and Rebecca Turnbull won two rubbers 12-0.

Promoted Dunnington 2 and Heworth are finding it hard but Ollie Hicks and Louise Haritakis inspired the latter to a first win. A timely final rubber win by Phil Langley and Denise Crane against Heworth kept Wigginton in second place.

York moved up to third with a big win against Dunnington 2. Wetherby Castlegarth lead division two after a narrow win against Sherburn. Rufforth are one point behind after James Edmond and Sue Yoward won 31 games against David Lloyd. Poppleton moved out of the bottom two with wins against Bishopthorpe and Bubwith.

Mark Harris and Jill Rounce won 27 games for Bubwith to share the points with Sherburn. Poppleton took the points in a close match against Bishopthorpe.

Division three is led by Fulford who beat York but lost at Sutton upon Derwent.

Despite winning 25 games, Cliffe’s Dave Tomlinson and Kate Reader found themselves on the losing side against David Lloyd who backed up the win with another 2 points against Wilberfoss. Rowntree Park are up to third, sharing the points at York.

Debutants Rob and Ruth Jones won 27 games for Appleton Roebuck to keep them unbeaten at the top of division four. Riccall lost at Fulford but bounced back with a win against Poppleton. Copmanthorpe stay in third ahead of opponents Fulford.

Rufforth lead division five but lost to Alne. Despite winning 24 games, Tollerton’s Ben Drummond and Suzi Scott-Rix were on the losing side at York.

Josh Hunt and Ed Hope won all three rubbers at Fulford to keep Tollerton in second ahead of Cawood who beat York. Wigginton have opened up a four point gap at the top of division six after Dave Rodgers and Julie Noonan won an impressive 31 games against Appleton Roebuck and inflicted a first defeat on David Lloyd.

Sutton upon Derwent secured their first win against Cliffe. Dunnington’s Nick Bentley and Sara Grinnell’s 26 games were not enough to stop Poppleton winning their first match. New Earswick remain unbeaten at the top of division seven but were pushed all the way by Copmanthorpe. Heworth move into second after Nick Milner and Chris Vis ended with a 10-2 to ensure victory against Bubwith. Sutton upon Derwent climb into third after victories against Bubwith and Tollerton who also lost to Copmanthorpe.

Riccall top division eight after John Lintott and Heather Page led the way at Wilberfoss. Don Grant and Susanne Straw led Wheldrake to victory at Wilberfoss. Division nine is led by unbeaten Fulford just ahead of David Lloyd who beat Bishopthorpe. Tony and Fiona White won 33 games in the victory at Poppleton. Stamford Bridge lead division ten and Brett Carter and Kim Lees won 29 games in victory at Wilberfoss. Rufforth lost to David Lloyd but bounced back against Sutton upon Derwent.
