YORK golfer Simon Dyson lines up in the Lyoness Open which starts today in Vienna.

Dyson, who produced his best performance of the season in the Nordea Masters last weekend, plays his first round with Damien Perrier of France and Sweden's Anton Karlsson.

Formerly the Austrian Open, the tournament offers a prize pot of one million euros and is held at the Diamond Country Club.

Dyson, a six-time former winner on the European Tour, banked just under £3,800 after finishing joint 57th last weekend in Sweden.

He had missed the cut in his previous four tournaments and is still battling to recapture his consistency after wrist surgery two years ago.

He said: "I am going to Austria full of confidence. If I keep improving, I can see a top 20 or top 15 finish just around the corner."

Ashun Wu of China is defending the title but has made only four of the last eight cuts.

Dyson will have an 11-day break after the Lyoness Open before returning to action at the BMW International Open in Munich on June 22.
