EIGHT players have booked their spots in the semifinals of the Elsie Bell Drawn Pairs Competition organised by the John Smith’s York Ladies Dart League.

The first stage of the competition saw players from the league’s various clubs drawn together to play in knock-out games across four boards.

Ox’s Toni Smallwood and Nikki Johnson of Tramways were board one winners.

The pair knocked out Cara Britton (Fulfordgate) and Slipper captain Doreen Johnstone in the first round.

They beat Edinburgh’s Julie Staples and Shoulder’s Sandra Flintoft in the next round before beating Priory’s Babs Harrison and Wendy Sullivan of Tramways 2-0 in the final.

Sharon Mountain of Severus and Ox’s Dawn Stamp (Ox) were the board two winners.

They beat Tramways duo Natalie Farmeary and Becky Thompson in the first round and then Shoulder’s Kirsty Limbert and Fulfordgate’s Gill Reed.

In the final, they beat Marcia captain Faye Hawksby and Angie Kaya of Severus.

Fulfordgate’s Michelle Britton and Burton Stone’s Sandra Pallister won through on board three.

The pair knocked out Marcia’s Anne Cornthwaite and Shoulder’s Lisa Russell in the first round.

In the second round, they beat Tramways’ Lauren Farmeary and Slipper’s Ann Parkyn.

Leeman’s Tracey Yeomans and Pallister’s daughter were their opponents in the final.

Britton clocked up the tons and closed on double 11 in the first leg before Pallister wrapped things up with a double 16 in the second leg.

The winners on board four were Burnholme’s Lynne Wilstrop and Wendy Storr of Severus.

In the first round, they beat Priory’s Ann Anderson and Glynnis Simpson of Severus with Storr closing on 46 and double one.

In the next round they beat Edinburgh’s Amanda Bevan and Sue Clark of Severus.

Wilstrop and Storr beat Ox’s Ann Bass and Leeman’s Jackie Gray2-0 in the final.

The game could have gone either way but finishing was the key.

The semifinals night will be held at Tramways Club on August 29.
