CREWS from the York City Rowing Club bagged gold medals at both the Nottingham City Masters and Durham City Regattas.

The Nottingham regatta took place at the National Water Sports Centre where crews raced along a 1000m six lane course.

Philippa Press and Karen Williams won the women's pair.

Press and Williams linked up with Liz Porte and Karen Fisher to win the women's four under cox Mike Thomas.

Fisher, Porte, Press, and Williams won the women's eight with Ali Gray, Jo Brehault, Lucy Roberts, and Anne Homa.

Margit Rezacova and Jo McSweeney linked up with members from Gloucester to win the women’s quad.

Homa won the women's single.

There was also success for YCRC in the Men’s Four courtesy of Dave Turley, Chris Jones, Phil Press, and Paul Richardson under cox Maisie Swindles.

The Durham City regatta focused on juniors and attracted a large number of competitors from across the North.

Charley Faint and Caitlin Parsons, both 14, won the junior girls double and linked up Maddi O’Higgins and Eliana Soma to win the quad under cox Charlotte Whittaker.

There was further success for YCRC at the Tees Regatta with eight wins.

Many club members participated against strong competition and a strong cross wind made conditions difficult, especially for novices.

The winners were Devlin (J13), Hoque (J13), O’Higgins (WJ14), Mawle (WJ14), Wilson (J15) Mountford (Novice), Barker (IM2).

The next regatta is the British Masters on June 10 and 11.
