YORK golfer Simon Dyson was certain to miss the cut in the Portuguese Open tonight after a nightmare second round.

Dyson, struggling for form after being plagued by a wrist injury for two years, followed a one-over-par 74 in round one with a six-over-par 79 today on his return to European Tour action at the Morgado Golf and Country Club.

Whereas he almost made up for five bogeys yesterday by shooting four birdies, today the Malton & Norton GC professional made shots up only at the sixth and 15th holes, among four bogeys plus back-to-back double-bogeys at holes 12 and 13.

That left him seven-over for the two days, and near the foot of the leaderboard.

Harrogate GC's John Parry likewise was not set to play over the weekend after ending the two rounds on four-over.
