YORK golfer Simon Dyson is struggling to keep the pace in the Portuguese Open.

Dyson was two over par after six holes, sitting joint 114th on the leaderboard, when play was suspended on Thursday afternoon due to the threat of thunder and lightning.

The Malton & Norton professional is making his first competitive appearance since the Shenzhen International in China, two weeks ago, when he was forced to retire after 12 holes due to wrist problems.

England's Matt Wallace produced a sparkling 63 to lead the field on 10 under par, hitting ten birdies, and opening up a one shot lead over nearest rival Germany's Sebastian Heisele.
