A TREBLE from Joel Wright helped Coneysthorpe B secure a 7-3 victory over York RI B in the first division of the Time Communications York & District Table Tennis League.
The RI team now face a play-off fixture to retain top-flight status against second division runners-up York RI D.
Champions Coneysthorpe A ended their campaign with a 7-3 triumph over relegated Clarence B with James Rule and Martin Lowe both ensuring they remained unbeaten all season.
Jon Wooldridge was too strong as Bootham A defeated York RI C 7-3 while, despite a maximum from Filip Wojtkowiak, Clarence A overcame a two-man York RI A 6-4.
In the second division, Strensall eased relegation concerns as two wins from Dave Robinson and Dave Quinlan helped them secure a 5-5 draw against Shepherds A, for whom Will Beedham and Keith Webster also bagged braces.
York RI D are confirmed as runners-up after three wins each, for Mark and Luke Blackburn, helped them to an emphatic 8-2 victory over Bootham C.
Ryan Hood and Tom Thorp were unstoppable as a buoyant York RI F defeated Bootham B 7-3, while trebles from Tim Smith and Ady McClaren allowed York RI E to thrash relegated York RI G 9-1.
In division three, Ryedale@RI remain favourites for the second promotion slot after they crushed Wigginton & Haxby A 9-1 with Ed Wardman and Stephen Temple on top form.
Third-placed Clarence CIU whitewashed Clarence E 10-0 to take the promotion battle into the final week of the season.
Shepherds B cruised to an 8-2 victory over South Bank thanks to unbeaten efforts from Chris Hutchinson and Mike Surtees.
Paul Greenwood starred as York RI H defeated Clarence D 7-3 and a treble from Paul Seekings was the highlight as Bootham D thumped BT B 8-2.
In division four, Mich Slezak starred as South Bank B defeated Shepherds C 7-3 and Russ Scott was on top form as Clarence F beat Wigginton & Haxby B 8-2.
York RI I require only two points from their final fixture to secure the title.
