JOSH DICKINSON produced the performance of his young career to win gold at the UK Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships.
Representing Yorkshire, the City of York Athletic Club starlet won the under-15 boys’ title by 50 metres after a strong finish at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough.
Dickinson completed the 4.5km course in 15 minutes 26 seconds to take his first British title, with runner-up Harris Mier (Cornwall) clocking 15-35.
City of York clubmate Finnian Hutchinson ran 16-33 for 31st place to help Yorkshire to a team silver medal.
Angus McMillan's fine season continued with an eighth-placed finish in the U17 men’s race.
The ever-improving City of York runner, who like Dickinson was North of England champion, clocked 20-21 for the 6km course to finish just 21 seconds behind winner Zakariya Mahamed (Hampshire).
McMillan was Yorkshire’s second runner home, helping them to team gold. Clubmate Maurice Calton-Seal finished 49th in 21-22.
City of York pair Josh Schofield and Tyler Hutchinson won a team silver medal for Yorkshire in the U20 men’s race.
Schofield and Hutchinson completed the 8km course in 28-29 and 29-53 for 19th and 56th place overall respectively.
City of York’s Georgia Rothwell finished a creditable 21st in the U17 women’s race, clocking 21-20 for the 5km course, and helped Yorkshire to fourth in the team standings.
