PROFESSIONAL boxing is returning to York for the first time in six years.

Trainer Glenn Banks in association with Newark-based Carl Greaves Promotions will be staging a six fight event at the Energise Leisure Centre in Acomb on Saturday March 18.

Top-of-the-bill will be Harry Matthews (The Pocklington Rocket) against Hartlepool's Greg O'Neil over eight rounds for a British middleweight challenge belt.

The evening will also feature fights for unbeaten York duo Danny 'The Tazmanian Devil' Holmes and Paul 'Flash' Gordon.

Dubbed the 'Revival of the Jorvik City', the under card includes the talents of Scarborough's George Rhodes, Bradford's 'Hurricane' Hamed Ghaz, and Goole's Matthew 'Warpath' Wrigglesworth.

Tickets for the show, priced £35, are now on sale. Event sponsors are Judge Electrical Ltd, Future Landscapes, Highway Support Ltd, Mick's School of Motoring, Dennis Distribution, AM Paintworks, and Heart Heating Solutions.
