STENSALL'S Chris Quantock was knocked out of the UK Open 10-2 by former World Championship and Premier League runner-up Simon Whitlock.

The match was first up on the Main Stage and kicked off ITV4's live coverage of the third round but Quantock found the going tough against the Aussie ace despite throwing 18 tons.

Quantock lost the first four legs, but got on the scoreboard when he checked out in 13 darts, having started off with a maximum 180.

He then missed two darts at doubles in the next leg before Whitlock went 6-1 up.

A 14-dart leg reduced the deficit but the Wizard of Oz made it 8-2 despite his opponent sitting on 34 after his second 180 of the night.

Victory was then wrapped up by the competition's number-two seed after Quantock missed three darts at a double.

The Mitre player had warmed up for the match with a run to the last 32 of the first Players Championship event of the season in Barnsley at the weekend.

He beat top-50 player Ronny Huybrechts in that tournament before losing narrowly 6-4 to world number five James Wade.
