CITY of York Athletic Club’s Josh Dickinson produced a strong run to secure a silver medal in the Saucony English National Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park, Nottingham.

Dickinson, who was crowned North of England champion in January, finished second in the under 15 boys' race over 4.5k, clocking 14mins 34secs.

Held over a varied course with some very muddy sections, Dickinson was beaten by around 50 metres by Kristian Imroth of Dacorum & Tring AC (14.23).

City of York's Angus McMillan finished ninth in the under 17 boys' race as he came up against a strong contingent of runners from the south of England.

Like Dickinson, McMillan had won the Northern title in January, and his time of 21.01 for the 6k course was just 33 seconds off first place.

Club-mate Georgia Rothwell finished 32nd in the under 17 girls' race while George Phillips finished 144th and Holly Moss 310th in the under 20 mens' and under 15 girls’ events respectively.

Charlotte Mason was again the leading runner from City of York in the senior races but finished narrowly outside the top 100 in 105th spot.

However, this was just a 'warm-up' for Mason who came seventh in the Snake Lane 10 mile race at Pocklington the following day in a time of 64.49.

City of York's Karen Wood came 422nd in the senior women's event at Wollaton Park while Mike Raynes ran his first race for some time to finish 1149th in the senior men's competition.
