YORK Knights IBC won their first Yorkshire Over-55s League division two game of the year - their away rinks setting the platform at North Cave Maroon by bringing an 11-shot advantage into the home leg.

Harley Wenham, John Butler, David White and Gordon Walker trailed 11-10 with seven ends to play but won four of the following five and finished 21-15 victors.

Colin Robinson, Norman Ellis, Dave Clarke and Trevor Scott trailed 11-6 but within six ends took a 17-15 lead and went on to win 23-18.

At home, both rinks made heavy going of it and with six ends to play the aggregate advantage had been reduced to one shot as Doug Mitchell, Noel Mallen, Brian Fannon and Ken Robinson trailed 20-10 and Dave Snarr, Alan Yoward, Allan May and Ron Munro were level at 14-14.

But Munro's men picked up a four then bagged a seven on the 18th end and went on to win 26-18, while Robinson's won four of the last five ends to only lose 25-16.

Tomorrow at noon, York Vikings can go top of Yorkshire Over-55s League division one if they beat Featherstone Jets.

Meanwhile, on Saturday at noon, York IBC hosts the Roses Challenge match between Yorkshire and Lancashire, the same time as York meet Selby in the North Eastern League.
