JAKE McCarthy and Mick Wilcockson won their singles matches to help York RI ‘B’ defeat Clarence ‘B’ 8-2 in division one’s ‘battle of the basement’ in the Time Communications York & District Table Tennis League.
Man of the match Paul Young won three singles and the doubles with Joel Wright as Coneysthorpe ‘B’ enjoyed an 8-2 win over Clarence ‘A’.
James Rule and Ashley Hodgson won their singles matches and the doubles in Coneysthorpe ‘A’s 8-2 victory over Bootham ‘A’.
Jon Wooldridge and Joe Wright both beat Brian Quinn for Bootham’s points while Quinn defeated Jo Suchecki for league leaders Coneysthorpe, who still boast a 100 per cent record after 13 games of the season.
In division two, leaders York RI ‘D’ thrashed Strensall 9-1 with Mark and Luke Blackburn both undefeated.
Second-placed University ‘A’ remain in contention after they whitewashed a strong Bootham ‘B’ team 10-0.
Bootham ‘C’ cruised to a 9-1 victory over a two-man Poppleton, while Tom Thorp and Ryan Hood were untroubled as York RI ‘F’ defeated their ‘G’ team 8-2.
York RI ‘E’ beat Clarence ‘C’ 8-2 thanks to a maximum from Tibor Lakomy.
A fine treble from Ian Williams could not prevent Shepherds ‘A’ suffering a 6-4 reversal against Bootham ‘B’.
In the third division, leaders University ‘B’ thumped bottom team BT ‘B’ 9-1 with Jack Taylor and Yankui Feng both on top form.
Mick Surtees gave an impressive display as Shepherds ‘B’ defeated BT ‘A’ 7-3.
Despite a fine unbeaten effort from Julian Taylor, Bootham ‘D’, who are now fifth, went down 6-4 to second placed Ryedale@RI.
A man of the match performance from Naz Hosseinian was not enough to prevent Clarence ‘E’ edging a close encounter with Wigginton & Haxby ‘A’ 6-4.
Clarence CIU posted an 8-2 victory over a depleted South Bank ‘A’.
A treble from Railway’s Paul Greenwood was the highlight of the game as York RI ‘H’ and Bootham ‘B’ shared the spoils in a 5-5 draw.
York RI ‘I’ strengthened their position at the top of division four, with Jacob Martindale and Mark Antrobus posting trebles in a 9-1 triumph over Shepherds ‘C’.
Clarence ‘F’ defeated a two-man Trustmarque side 8-2.
Michal Slezak was undefeated as South Bank ‘B’ saw off Clarence ‘G’ 8-2.
University ‘C’ showed no mercy as they whitewashed Bootham ‘E’, who are seven points adrift at the bottom of the table.
