BOOTHAM 'A' were joined at the top of the York Conservative Clubs Carlsberg UK Snooker League table by Acomb 'A' after both had convincing wins.

Bootham beat Heworth 'B' 5-2 and Acomb defeated Fulford 'B' 6-1, giving them both 39 points, although Bootham have a game in hand.

Fulford 'A' are now a point behind in third after they beat Acomb 'B' 4-3.

Bootham 'A' victors were Rob Barron, Tim Fillingham, Andy Wynn, Barry Rankin and Stuart Martel, who got the better of Peter Rivis, Andi Ireland, Peter Henderson, Martin Johnson and Simon Whiteley respectively.

Andy Ogley and John Sherlock replied for Heworth as they beat Jeff Brown and Colin Robinson respectively.

Acomb 'A' proved too strong for Fulford 'B' with, the only resistance coming from Dave Coggan who beat Keith Thornhill.

Wins for Dan Potter, Richard Lillie, Paul Holmes, Nick Marchant, Jon Milner and Mick Borg gave Acomb a decisive victory.

Fulford 'A' maintained their challenge with a hard-fought victory.

Tom Lewis led the way, always in command as he beat Chris Nicholson.

Kevin Ventress levelled for Acomb 'B' with a black-ball win over Dave Atkin, but Fulford took the next three frames as Dollin Mercer, Sam England (28 break) and Sam Parkinson (20 break) beat John Ashwell, Brian Henry and Steve Rodgers.

Andy Stone (22 break) and Jeff Winter (24 break) both potted well to win the last two frames for Acomb, beating Pete Dunmore and Alan Reed to reduce the arrears.

Heworth 'A' could only turn out six players and this proved decisive as they went down 4-3 to Bootham 'B'.

Heworth got off to a great start as John Dowd, Kevin Gall and Keith Watkinson beat Matt Smith, Ian Robinson and Pete Stewart respectively for a 3-0 lead.

But Chris Thompson beat Nick Dyson (26 break), Paul Mahoney defeated Clive Whyte, and Lionel Barnes beat Steve Burdett to level the scores. The forfeited frame gave Bootham victory.

The Pasema Paving Highest Break leaderboard is led by Neil Wood with a 73, with Dan Potter just behind with a 70.

The Molson Coors Worthington Cup Player of the Year table has two Fulford 'A' players at the summit as Sam England and Tom Lewis have both won eight out of ten contests. There are four players just behind on seven wins each - Phil Cook, Kevin Gall, Jon Milner and Rob Barron.
