ACOMB II were unable to halt the march of local rivals City of York VII .

Buoyed by victory last time out against Tadcaster Magnets II, Acomb had travelled to Huntington School hoping to shock their neighbours who are chasing promotion in Yorkshire Men’s Hockey League division five north.

York doubled their lead and secured an eighth consecutive victory when Paul Rowntree rode several tackles to score from seven yards out.

In division two, Acomb I were beaten 8-2 by promotion chasing Doncaster III at the Energise Sports Centre.

However, the visitors soon showed their superiority and scored from a penalty corner. Acomb had good breaks - and Dickenson struck the post from a narrow angle - but it was always an uphill struggle.

Doncaster took full control after their break with their speed and skill and Acomb’s only reply came via Dave Richardson who skilfully lifted the ball over the Doncaster goalkeeper.
