YORK IBC progressed in the Yetton Trophy after beating North Cave 88-43, winning three and drawing one of the four rinks.

They next meet Hartlepool on December 11 in the country's last-32 round.

At home, Zoe Eagles, Lynda Parker, Sheila Turpin and Helen Walker were in excellent form, losing only one of the first ten ends and leading 24-3 en route to a 32-6 victory.

Carol Banks, Pauline Armitage, Helen Wood and Carol Instone were level at 12-12 with four ends to play but won three of them and took their game 18-13.

Away, Maureen Walker, Betty Richardson, Hayley Robinson and Sue Allen took full control of their game on the 13th end where they picked up a five to lead 14-11 and they did not look back as they won the remaining five ends to finish 25-11. Dot Kennelly, Pat Potter, Sue Tomlinson and Linda Harrison had a 12-10 lead with three ends to go but dropped three shots over the next two ends before salvaging a 13-13 draw on the last with a single.

Meanwhile, York and Hornsea were involved in another thrilling game, this time in Yorkshire Over-55s League division one.

Hornsea, fresh from a 12 points to two success against Featherstone, were in confident mood against a team who had been whitewashed in their last game against Redcar.

They also had a slight advantage at the main checkpoints - being 32-29 up on aggregate after ten ends, 51-48 after 15 and 62-56 after 18.

However, with three rinks having finished and Hornsea leading 66-63 with two ends to play in the final rink, York's Derek Walker, Barry Walker, Malcolm Harrison and Tex Stevens capped an excellent afternoon as they picked up a two then a single to tie the aggregate scores at 66-66.

They had been 16-12 down after 15 ends but came back well, losing only one of the last six ends to finish 19-17 victors.

Alan Vowles, Allen Clapham, Jim Robertson and Graham Brooke also put in an excellent performance as they came from 9-5 down after ten ends to lead 13-10 five ends later. They kept the lead up to the close where they finished 17-14.

At home, Tony Hopcutt, Trevor Wilford, Roger Ford and Phil Parsons were on top form early on as they led 11-6 after ten ends but they then had to hold on as their opponents came back to within one shot as the game went into the last end.

Parsons' men held their nerve, putting in some good woods to pick up a single and take the game 18-16.

Ray Calpin, Graham Instone, Eric Hodgson and Geoff Walker struggled throughout but crucially for the aggregate score won the last three ends, picking up four shots to leave the final score at 19-12 to Hornsea.

York picked up nine points to Hornsea's five to move into the top three.
