YORK IBC's ladies were in excellent form as they easily beat Harrogate 91-38 in the Yetton Trophy, with all four rinks winning.

York had the edge early on but pulled away over the last eight ends as they picked up 43 shots while only dropping nine to finish 91-38 victors.

In Harrogate, Dot Kennelly, Sue Tomlinson, Melanie Brooke and Linda Harrison found themselves 12-3 down after eight ends, before coming back in style, not losing another end as they won 23-12.

Maureen Walker, Betty Richardson, Hayley Robinson and Sue Allen won five of the last seven ends to go from 9-8 up to 19-10 victors.

At home, Joan Jackson, Carol Banks, Helen Wood and Carol Instone only lost two ends but were involved in a tighter game than the final 26-5 scoreline suggested as singles were scored on 11 ends.

Zoe Eagles, Lynda Parker, Sheila Turpin and Helen Walker built a big early lead as they won seven of the first eight ends to lead 16-1 on their way to a 23-11 victory.

York now play North Cave a week on Saturday.

York's men disappointingly went out of the Denny Cup as they lost 82-52 to Scarborough, with only Neal Macdonald, Alan Smith, Pete Jackson and Paul Mooring winning.

That rink overturned an 11-9 deficit to win 19-13.

Mike Parker, John Crowe, Stuart Smith and Craig Newton just missed out on a draw as they could only score a single on the last end and went down 16-15.

In Scarborough, Eric Hodgson, Andy Humphreys, Phil Parsons and Dave Stroughair led 10-7 after ten ends but lost 24-12, while Tony Hopcutt, Barry Walker, Jim Robertson and Graham Instone won their first end and the last three but in between dropped 29 shots and lost 29-6.

York 'A' had the edge over Harrogate in the EIBA Over-60s Double Rinks, winning 37-28.

Graham Instone, Malcolm Lewars, Roger Ford and Mal Bulmer dropped a two on their first end but led 10-2 five ends later and thereafter retained the lead to win 22-12.

Tony Hopcutt, Barry Walker, Phil Parsons and Graham Brooke led 15-11 with three ends to play but lost 16-15.

York 'A' now play Scarborough, who pipped York 'B' 33-31.

Gordon Walker, Noel Mallen, Jim Robertson and Tex Stevens put in a great display for the 'B' team in winning 16-12 in Scarborough.

However, the home rink of Harley Wenham, Ken Robinson, Malcolm Harrison and Eric Hodgson were up against it as they trailed 19-3 after ten ends before coming back well to only lose 21-15.

York 'A' meet Scarborough on Tuesday, November 29, starting at noon.

Tomorrow, York Knights are in Yorkshire Over-55s League division one action against Featherstone Sharks, with both the home and away legs starting at noon.

On Sunday at 10am, York take on Hornsea in the Egham Trophy.
