THE Coneysthorpe 'A' juggernaut rolled on in division one of the Time Communications York & District Table Tennis League as nearest challengers York RI 'A' were comprehensively defeated 10-0.

The closest RI came to winning a point was in the doubles, going down 11-9 in the deciding game.

Nathan Taylor and Joe Wright won their singles and combined to win the doubles as Bootham 'A' defeated York RI 'B' 7-3.

Paul Young starred as Coneysthorpe 'B' cruised to an 8-2 victory over Clarence 'B'.

York RI 'C' and Clarence 'A' drew 5-5, with Aidan Ranftler winning three for Clarence, and Rich Crowther and Andy Fletcher winning two each for York RI.

Bootham 'A' continued their fine start to the season with a whitewashing of Clarence 'B'.

In the second division, a treble from Mark Hughes made the difference as Poppleton defeated Strensall 7-3.

A depleted Bootham 'B' lost for the first time this season as York RI 'D' posted an 8-2 victory with Luke Blackburn contributing two wins.

A superb unbeaten performance from the evergreen Pat Swindell was the highlight as Clarence 'C' saw off York RI 'F' 7-3.

The top game in the division was an entertaining 5-5 draw between University 'A' and York RI 'D'.

Calum Goodwin was undefeated for the students while John Hughes and Luke Blackburn contributed braces for the Railwaymen.

Ryedale@RI remain top of the third division, with Stephen Temple and John Flintoft unbeaten in a 7-3 victory over Bootham 'D'.

University 'B' are hot on their heels as Frank Feng and Razvan Ababei starred in an 8-2 triumph over Shepherds 'B'.

Despite a treble from Terry Ruane, South Bank 'A' had to settle for a 5-5 draw against a determined Wigginton & Haxby 'A', for whom Naz Hosseinian earned two victories.

The villagers fared less well against Bootham 'D', for whom Chris Maude was on top form in an 8-2 victory.

In-form Paul Greenwood steered York RI 'H' to a 7-3 victory over BT 'B', while Julian Taylor was unbeaten as Clarence 'D' edged a close encounter with Clarence 'E' 6-4.

In the top match in the fourth division, York RI 'I' pulled off a fine 6-4 victory over Clarence 'G' with a treble from Mark Antrobus proving decisive.

Nigel Baker and Steve Webster were too good as Shepherds 'C' thrashed Wigginton & Haxby 'A' 9-1. For the losers, Russ Broadbent played well to beat David Atkinson.

Clarence 'F' remain unbeaten after a 10-0 whitewash of Bootham 'E'.
